Peter Chia is an expert in securities and investments with a niche in alternative financing and creating new investment opportunities via strategic transformations and innovations.
A Bachelor of Accountancy (1977) from the University of Singapore, Peter began his career in securities with a low profile, before starting to make a name for himself at Stock Exchange of Singapore as a Public Affairs Manager.
From then on, he scaled the Singaporean corporate heights to become a member of the team for the merger of Stock Exchange of Singapore (SES) and Singapore International Monetary Exchange (SIMEX) to form SGX. This led him to become a consultant with SGX, then a board member of Philippine Dealing & Exchange Corp (PDEX), Philippine Depository & Trust Corp (PDTC), and the Philippine Securities Settlement Corp (PSSC), representing SGX. Peter’s sharp mind has seen him appointed in leadership roles in strategy and business development with SGX. His team led SGX through its own initial public offering (which transformed SGX from a utility into a commercial entity) and led the development of the SGX securities lending and borrowing business that provided new opportunities for arbitrage, covered short selling and increased liquidity.T
